I obtained my Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 2000 from New Mexico State University.  My dissertation was entitled “Rhenium-Catalyzed Heteroatom Transfer Reactions”, and I worked under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Arterburn.  I then went to a postdoctoral position in the lab of Dr. Kevin Burgess at Texas A & M University.  I joined the faculty of UAA in the fall of 2003 as an assistant professor.  My primary teaching responsibilities are in the area of organic chemistry, although I have also taught general chemistry and an introduction to general and organic chemistry.
